Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method with 25-minute focus sessions followed by 5-minute breaks, cycling 4 times before a long break of 15–30 minutes. Developed by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s, it is proven to boost focus and productivity.
Q. What is the difference between a timer and a stopwatch?
A timer counts down from a set duration and alerts you when it reaches zero. A stopwatch counts up from zero and lets you record lap times. Choose based on your use case.
Q. No alert sound is playing. How do I fix it?
Browsers may block autoplay. Click anywhere on the page or press Start first, then try again. You can also allow sound in the browser's site settings.
Q. Can I change the Pomodoro focus duration?
Yes! In the Pomodoro tab you can freely set the focus (default 25 min), short break (5 min), and long break (15 min) durations.
Q. How do I use the stopwatch lap feature?
While the stopwatch is running, press the LAP button to record the elapsed time and the interval since the last lap. Useful for sports, reading sessions, or task timing.
Q. Are lap records saved after a page refresh?
Currently records are stored in session memory only and are lost on refresh. Note down important laps before refreshing the page.

Expert Knowledge: Timer, Stopwatch & Pomodoro
The Pomodoro Technique alternates short focus bursts with brief rest periods, reducing cognitive fatigue and sustaining deep concentration. Research shows that the 25-minute focus / 5-minute break rhythm optimizes working memory and executive function. The stopwatch lap feature is widely used for sports intervals, reading sprints, and coding time-boxing.
